India can become a global sports superpower, there is a need to create a strong mechanism to make sports a career option
New Delhi, July 16 (IANS)| The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday included Sports for All (SFA) as the official partner of the Indian Olympic contingent for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta said, “We are very excited to have SFA as our Official Sports EdTech Partner. With its technology driven platform and mega-scale, organize on-ground multi-sport competitions at school and college level. At the same time, it will also serve to empower and enable our children and youth to pursue their best sporting potential, so that India’s Olympic dreams can be fulfilled in the times to come.”
Hrishikesh Joshi and Vishwas Choksi, who founded SFA in 2015, said, “Our association with the IOA and Team India is built on our strong belief that by providing the best sports platform to the children of India at the very early stages of their sporting journey. May we fuel their progress towards representing India and taking it to the top of the global sporting map in the years to come.”
SFA has created a fully integrated physical (combination of online and on-ground) platform that enables on-ground competitions as well as sports education through technology. It helps identify, nurture and empower athletes across 30 disciplines of sport with the right set of experience and equipment.
Vishwas said, “Every child chooses sports at a young age. Whether it is to have fun, learn life skills, stay fit or aspirations to represent India, SFA aims to facilitate and inspire their journey. Technology is at our backbone and with this we are making multi-sport training and on-ground competitions affordable and accessible to all.”
Rishikesh said, “India has the potential to become a global sports superpower. To make sports a career option, we need to create a strong ecosystem. Our platform will enable coaches and academies to connect with children who are interested in any kind of sport. also want to learn the sport. It will lay the foundation for our future champions in a systematic and strategic manner.”
