In response, Canada and Mexico have also said to put heavy tariffs on American goods.

What did Trump say?
Trump said that tariffs have been applied to protect American citizens from illegal immigration and drug smuggling hazards. 60 percent tariff was threatened on China
Trump has repeatedly stated that he will follow his threat to influence imports from Canada and Mexico on February 1. Instead, he ordered his administration to study the issue.
Canada talks about retaliation
