A court in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya granted bail to property dealer Silom James on Friday, who was arrested in connection with the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi in Indore. The bail hearing took place through video conferencing.
Advocate Devesh Sharma, who is representing James, said that first class judicial magistrate in charge of Sohra Sub-Sambhag, DK Misil granted bail to Indore property dealer Silom James.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police had recovered important evidence including the missing gold chain of King Raghuvanshi during a raid at the residence of Silom James in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh.
James and two other co-accused, Lokendra Singh Tomar and Balbir Ahirwa, arrested by the Meghalaya Police, are accused of obstructing justice and tampering with evidence in a flat in Indore, where Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha stayed after the murder of King Raghuvanshi.
Tomar and Ahirwa were granted bail by the court on 13 July.
Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi was on honeymoon in Meghalaya with his wife Sonam on 23 May, but went missing. On June 2, his mutilated body was found in a deep ditch in Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district.
The king married Sonam on 11 May. Sonam and Raj Kushwaha were accused of plotting to kill Raja Raghuvanshi and hiring three miscreants – Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi.
Sonam, Raj Kushwaha and three arrested criminals are now in judicial custody.
