New Delhi . Hearing was held in Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday in the criminal defamation case filed by Delhi government minister and BJP leader Parvesh Verma against Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj. During the hearing, Pravesh Verma sought time from the court to record his statement. His lawyer told the court that due to busy schedule, Pravesh Verma could not appear on the scheduled date. Accepting the request, the court has fixed the next hearing of the case on July 4. Now on July 4, Pravesh Verma’s statement will be recorded in Rouse Avenue Court.
In fact, Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj had alleged on social media platform Misusing his position, he has got his close associates appointed in ‘Mota Singh School Trust’. Bhardwaj had claimed that this trust has assets worth about Rs 500 crore.
Describing these allegations as completely false, baseless and defamatory, Pravesh Verma has filed a criminal defamation complaint against Saurabh Bhardwaj.
Action is also going on in the civil defamation case related to this matter. Hearing the civil defamation petition filed by Pravesh Verma, the Delhi High Court issued summons to Saurabh Bhardwaj and directed him to file a written reply and affidavit within 30 days.
In the civil defamation case, Pravesh Verma has demanded damages of Rs 5 crore from Saurabh Bhardwaj. The matter is currently pending in the court.
Pravesh Verma has said in his petition that Saurabh Bhardwaj had shared false, malicious and highly derogatory posts and videos against him on social media platform X. In which it was alleged that by misusing his position as a minister, he appointed one of his associates as a trustee in a private school trust.
