Jaipur. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, during his stay in Chandigarh, paid a courtesy call on Governor Gulabchand Kataria at Lok Bhawan Punjab on Tuesday. On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Devnani welcomed Governor Kataria by presenting him a bouquet and greeted him by presenting a memento of the Rajasthan Assembly. Devnani gave detailed information to Governor Kataria about the concept of naming various gates of the Assembly building. He said that the basic ideals of democracy and the responsibilities of public representatives have been symbolically expressed by naming the main gates of the Assembly as Duty Gate, Shakti Gate, Good Governance Gate, Resolution Gate and Shaurya Gate. He told Kataria that an effort has been made to connect the cultural diversity, folk traditions and regional pride of the state with the democratic system by dedicating the outer gates of the assembly building to the names of different regions of Rajasthan, Brij, Shekhawati, Vagad, Hadoti, Marwar, Mewar, Merwara and Dhundhaar. Governor Kataria described this initiative of Speaker Devnani as an important step in connecting democratic institutions with public sentiments and cultural values and said that such innovations develop a sense of affinity and pride among the citizens towards democracy. During the meeting, there was an intimate discussion between the two public representatives on various topics related to contemporary issues, democratic values and public service. Devnani praised Governor Kataria’s long public life, administrative experience and his contribution towards the society.
