Jammu. A new batch of 6,388 pilgrims left from a base camp here in the early hours of Tuesday to visit the Amarnath Cave Temple in South Kashmir Himalayas. Since the commencement of Amarnath’s 38 -day annual journey, more than 2.25 lakh pilgrims have ‘darshan’ of Baba Barfani.
The yatra started on July 3 from Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district. This pilgrimage will end on August 9. Officials said the 14th batch of 6,388 pilgrims, including 1,308 women, rode in 248 vehicles and left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp between 3:25 am to 4:15 am.
He said that the first batch for pilgrims took 2,501 pilgrims out of 103 vehicles and left for a 14 -km small but more inaccessible Baltal road in Ganderbal district, after which the second batch of 3,887 pilgrims out of 145 vehicles left for 48 km long traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district. Along with this, a total of 95,439 pilgrims have left for the Valley from the Jammu base camp since the first batch by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on July 2.
