Lucknow, Amrit Vichar. The state government is going to organize a cultural festival on the foundation day of the state. Its objective is to find emerging talents related to art and music and to bring their talent in front of everyone by giving them a platform. For this, various competitions will be organized from tehsil to state level between 2nd to 26th January. The winners will be honored on January 24.

The Culture Department has issued comprehensive guidelines regarding the event. According to this, ‘Sanskriti Utsav 2024-25’ will be organized from January 2 to January 24, 2025. In the culture festival being organized with the theme line ‘Uttar Pradesh Parv: Our Culture-Our Identity’, folk artists at the state level including village, development block, tehsil, district, division will get a proper platform to showcase their talent. This festival will be organized across the state by the Culture Department, in which many competitions will be held.

According to the circular issued by Mukesh Meshram, Principal Secretary of Culture Department, folk music prevalent in rural areas will also be given prominence in this event. The winning artists will be honored and rewarded in competitions held at all levels.

Events and their dates

A competition will be organized at the tehsil headquarters between January 2 and 5, in which artists from the gram panchayat, development block and tehsil level will participate. After this, selected artists at tehsil level will participate in the competition to be held at the district headquarters between 7th and 8th January. A competition will be organized at the divisional headquarters level between 10th and 12th January, in which artists selected at the district level will participate. From 18th to 20th January, a competition of selected artists at divisional level will be held in Lucknow. The winning artists of the competition held in Lucknow will have a rehearsal on 23rd January and on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Parv on 24th January, all the finally selected participants will be presented and awarded.

There will be competitions in these genres

Under the cultural festival, Khayal, Dhrupad in classical singing, Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Chaita, Jhula, Hori, Tappa in folk singing, Kajri, Chaiti, Jhula, Birha, Alha, Nirgun, folk songs, Qawwali in folk singing. There will be competitions of songs, ghazals, bhajans and patriotic songs in easy music. Competitions related to flute, shehnai, harmonium, sitar, violin, guitar, sarangi, veena, tabla, pakhawaj, mridangam, ghatam and tribal and folk instruments like dafla, nagara, dhol tasha, dholak, naal, chimta, hudka, singha. Will happen. At the same time, there will be dance competitions related to Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Mohiniyattam and other classical dances. Similarly, in folk dance there will be competitions of Dhobia, Ahirwa, Karma, Shaila, Domkach, Aakhet and in folk drama, there will be competitions of Nautanki, Ramlila, Raasleela, Swang, Bhagat, Bahurupiya, street drama etc.
