Vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra’s sales of vehicles in the domestic market have increased significantly in the month of August. Passenger vehicle sales increased by 87 per cent to 29,852 units in August 2022 as against 15,973 units sold in the same month last year. The company said it has sold 21,492 commercial vehicles in the last month as against 8,814 units in the same month last year. Vijay Nakra, President, Automotive Division of M&M said that its hold in the company’s portfolio continues to be strong. Apart from this, the introduction of new vehicles like Scorpio-N, Scorpio Classic and Bolero Max Pick-up has also helped in accelerating the growth.

The company recently launched the Scorpio-N, which targets mid-size SUVs to full-size SUVs like Toyota Fortuner in the market. The company has also received an overwhelming response from customers. When the company started booking for this vehicle, one lakh bookings were received in the first half hour itself. This shows that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the people for this new product of Mahindra. However, the company has said that the new Scorpio-N has nothing to do with the old Scorpio. Scorpio-N is a new product, which Mahindra has launched by updating the old Scorpio in the name of Scorpio Classic.

At the same time, apart from Mahindra, if we talk about Tata Motors, its total sales increased by 36 percent to 78,843 units in August 2022, as compared to 57,995 units sold in the same month of last year. Tata Motors’ total domestic sales rose 41% to 76,479 units in August. The company had dispatched 54,190 units to dealers in August, 2021. Passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market rose 68% to 47,166 units last month.
