Japanese automaker Honda recently launched a new facelift model of its famous compact sedan car Amaze in the Indian market. Now news is coming that the company is working on a new CNG variant of this car and recently this car has also been spotted during testing.
However, it is not yet confirmed that this is the CNG variant of Honda Amaze. But according to spy pictures, extra pipes can be seen in the exhaust of this car. Apart from this, the sticker of ‘ON TEST’ can also be clearly seen on the windshield of the car. It is believed that this is the only CNG variant that is being tested. At the same time, some experts also believe that this is normal emission testing.
However, soon it will be confirmed whether this is a CNG model of Honda Amaze or not. Let us tell you that in the last few months, there was a huge jump in the prices of petrol and diesel across the country. After which most automakers are preparing to launch CNG variants of their existing models in the market. Tata Motors is also working very fast in this matter, the company can soon introduce the CNG variant of Tiago.
Honda Amaze is the cheapest car sold by the company in the Indian market. The facelift model of the past was introduced at a starting price of Rs 7.20 lakh, while the base ‘E’ trim of the previous model is priced at Rs 6.32 lakh. At present, its second generation model is in the market, which was introduced for the first time in the year 2018. At the same time, its facelift model has seen very minor updates.
Though Honda had earlier ruled out introducing a CNG variant, so it could also be a normal petrol model on regular emissions testing. On the rear side, the Amaze lettering, i-VTEC and variant badge can also be seen and we expect Honda to introduce a limited number of true but CNG variants in the near future.
Currently, the Honda Amaze is available in the market with 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines. Its petrol engine first generates 89 Bhp and 110 Nm torque while the diesel engine generates 99 Bhp and 200 Nm torque. Its power could be slightly lower if the company offers its CNG variant, which can only be mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
