According to a draft presented recently, the Delhi government is preparing to give subsidy on e-cycles as well. The government plans to provide a subsidy of up to 25 per cent of the cost of the e-cycle, which will not exceed Rs 5,500. With this, the government is planning to give an additional incentive of Rs 2,000 for the first 10,000 e-cycles.
Under the current EV policy, the Delhi government is giving subsidy up to a maximum of Rs 30 thousand on two wheelers and up to a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh on four wheelers. Apart from this, a separate incentive is being given for installing an electric charger at home.
On the whole plan, an official said that the e-cycle can also be driven with the help of pedals and with the help of this people can cover short distances easily. The government wants people associated with delivery services on a large scale to use this. The government also plans to provide subsidy up to Rs 15,000 on cargo cycles, which cost around Rs 1 lakh in the market. The passenger e-cycle can cover a distance of about 20 km, while the cargo cycle can cover a distance of up to 40 km at a time.
Sales of e-vehicles increased by 55 percent: Around 11,615 electric vehicles have been registered since January 1 this year. Last year, during this period, about 5244 electric vehicles were registered. In this way, an increase of about 55 percent has been registered in the registration of electric vehicles during the year as compared to 5814 in 2020.
