New Delhi. Indian electric vehicle startup company Vazirani Automotive has unveiled the country’s fastest single-seater hypercar Ekonk. Not only this, the company claims that it is also one of the fastest accelerating cars in the world. The fully electric car, resembling a spaceship, is also the lightest electric hypercar. Its overall weight is only 738 kg.
The Akonk electric hypercar EV uses the startup’s new innovative battery solution that replaces traditional complex liquid cooling technology.
The car uses a technology called DiCo which enables the battery to be cooled directly by air without requiring any liquid cooling. Vazirani claims that this technology enhances its range while also making its EVs lighter, faster, safer and cost-effective.
The body of this hypercar is made entirely of carbon fiber, which helps in reducing its weight as well as giving it strength. It is designed to be one of the most aerodynamically fast cars with the lowest drag efficiency for a vehicle of its kind. That’s why its rear wheels are covered.
The Ekonk EV produces a stellar power output of 722hp, which is almost equal to the power-to-weight ratio. The end-to-end electric hypercar made by Vazirani has also been tested at the recently inaugurated Naxtrax High-Speed Vehicle Testing Facility near Indore. During this time the car achieved a top speed of 309 kmph and acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 2.54 seconds.
The company will apply the data and technical know-how from Akonk to the production version of the Shul, which is India’s first concept hypercar. It was screened at the Goodwood Festival in the United Kingdom. Vazirani may later come up with a limited production series of Akonk for the customers to buy.
The word ‘Ekonk’ in Indian scriptures means ‘beginning of divine light’. This electric car marks the beginning of a new era for the automaker. Chunky Vazirani, Founder and CEO, Vazirani-Automotive said, “With the advent of electric vehicles, companies across the world will have to start from a blank canvas. It is time for India to innovate, develop and pioneer this EV era. It’s the right time.”
