New Delhi. Kia Motors recently expanded its Seltos SUV lineup with the introduction of two new variants, the GTX+ (S) and X-Line (S). The GTX+ (S) is priced at ₹19.39 lakh, while the X-Line (S) is priced at ₹19.59 lakh (ex-showroom). These variants sit below the GTX+ and X-Line in the range. Notably, the new Seltos GTX+ (S) and X-Line (S) variants do not include the Bose sound system and 360-degree camera. Both these new variants are equipped with many features including reverse camera with ADAS, electronic parking brake, dual infotainment display and 6-speaker audio system. Customers also have the option to opt for all-black roof lining for an additional ₹20,000.
powertrain options
The new variants offer two engine options – a 1.5L turbo petrol engine that produces 160bhp and 253Nm of torque, and a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 115bhp and 144Nm of torque. The petrol engine is paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox, while the diesel variant comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
According to Kia India, there will be a waiting period of around two months for the GTX+ (S) and X-Line (S) variants. Currently, there is already a waiting period of four months on the new Kia Seltos. In the market, this SUV competes with models like Hyundai Creta, Honda All-New City, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Highrider.
Updates for other models
After the Seltos update, Kia is preparing to refresh the Sonet compact SUV and the Carens MPV. All three models are expected to make their debut in 2024. The upcoming Sonet facelift may come with ADAS along with 7-8 other features. Additionally, it may feature a new dashboard design and a 360-degree camera. However, there are no expected changes in its engine lineup.
Kia enters electric MPV
Kia India is also working on introducing its first locally developed electric MPV by the end of financial year 2025. Currently undergoing testing in Korea, this mass-market electric vehicle is estimated to offer a range of around 400-500 kilometers per charge.
