New Delhi. Major auto maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced that the increased prices of its cars will come into effect from today. On Monday, a statement has come out from Maruti that the prices are being increased due to additional input cost.
Price change for select models
According to the company, the new prices have become effective from September 6, 2021. The company announced price changes for several models in view of the increase in various input costs. The prices of cars across the country will increase by about 2 percent. The average price increase across models is 1.9% over ex-showroom prices (Delhi). The auto major has already increased prices by around 3.5 per cent in January and April this year.

Currently, the company sells a range of car models from the entry-level hatchback Alto to the S-Cross, priced between ₹ 2.99 Lakh and ₹ 12.39 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) Lakh.

According to Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director, MSI, the company had no choice. He said that the price of steel has increased from Rs 38 per kg last year to Rs 65 per kg in May-June this year. Similarly, the price of copper has doubled from USD 5,200 per tonne to USD 10,000 per tonne.
The demand for precious metals has increased in various global markets. According to Srivastava, the prices of precious metals like rhodium have increased from ₹18,000 per gram in May 2020 to around ₹64,300 per gram in July.

biggest vehicle recall
Earlier, Maruti Suzuki India had announced that it would recall 1,81,754 units of petrol variants of various models including Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and XL6 to replace the faulty motor generator unit. For this, she will also contact the customers. It is being told that due to this defect in the cars, the customers may have to face further problems. This is the biggest vehicle recall of the company till date.
