The next generation Mahindra Scorpio 2022 is coming to the market soon as the company has started teasing the upcoming SUV. The upcoming Mahindra Scorpio (Z101) was also being tested on Indian roads for a long time. The teaser video reveals some details of the SUV’s headlight, side profile and rear-left corner. Now, spy pictures of the SUV ahead of the launch have surfaced online.
What’s new
The spy images show the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio SUV with a fairly muscular design. The picture also reveals that Mahindra has kept its vertical grille design which expands to become the double barrel headlamp.
The car was seen sporting a honeycomb pattern grille along with fog lamps along with C-shaped LED DRLs at the bottom of the front bumper. However, spy photos show the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio with the company’s old branding, while the new ‘Twin Peaks’ teased a few days ago wears the Mahindra logo, as seen on the XUV700.
In addition, the new Scorpio gets a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels, which are likely to be 17-inches, and a chrome beltline with a slight rake from the C-pillar. It is also seen with vertically mounted tail lamps and side-opening tailgate. The rear bumper flaunts a much flatter profile similar to the outgoing model. The upcoming SUV gets reverse lights at the end of the bumper along with a wrap-around chrome strip.
Inside the cabin, the SUV will sport an all-new design and is expected to come with a much larger touchscreen, vertically placed AC vents and some interior elements shared with the XUV700.
According to leaked reports, the updated Scorpio will come with multiple seating options in 6 and 7 seater layouts. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio was seen with 360-degree cameras, rear disc brakes, turn indicators, cruise control and connected car technology with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Alexa support.
It could get high speed alert in the form of multiple airbags, front parking sensors, electronic stability control, tire pressure monitoring system and safety features. It will also get speed sensing door lock, rear parking sensor, ABS and EBD.
Powertrain Options
The new Scorpio is likely to come with 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options, and Mahindra is expected to offer manual and automatic gearboxes on both the engines, with four-wheel drive for the top-spec variant. Likely to be reserved. ,
It will be sold alongside the existing Scorpio which was recently updated. It will compete with Tata Safari, MG Hector and Hyundai Alcazar. The new Scorpio should be priced between Rs 12 to 19 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new SUV has been designed by Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai, and engineered at the state-of-the-art facilities of Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) near Chennai.
