Now news is coming out that Ford Motor Company has decided that it will stop production at both its manufacturing plants in India.

According to media reports, Ford Motor Company has reportedly decided to close both its manufacturing facilities in India. The company has attributed this decision to non-profitability. However, till now no official announcement has been made by Ford Motor about it. It is being told that its formal announcement will be made soon.
Will continue to sell cars through imports
The report said that Ford has decided to shut down operations at its Sanand and Maraimalai plants. Because in India it is not showing any sign of much profit. At the same time, media reports quoting sources have claimed that the company will continue to sell some of its cars in the country through imports.
After companies like General Motors and Harley Davidson, Ford will now be the third American company that is preparing to withdraw its business from India.
What do sales figures say
If you look at the sales report of Ford vehicles, then these are quite disappointing figures. In the month of August, the company has sold a total of 1,508 units of vehicles across the country. This was 4,731 units in the month of August last year. During this period, the company’s sales have seen a decline of 68.1 percent. With this, the company’s market share in the passenger car segment has come down to 0.6 per cent from 2 per cent in August last year.

Ford currently sells the EcoSport, Endeavor and Freestyle models in the SUV segment along with Figo hatchback, Aspire sedan cars in the Indian market. Last month, Endeavor has been the company’s best selling model and during this time the company has sold a total of 928 units of this SUV. On the other hand, Ford Figo is the lowest selling model of the company with just seven units.
