Sony and Honda, two reputed companies in their respective segments, have entered into an agreement to manufacture electric cars in the near future. The joint venture between Sony (a leading electronics company) and Honda (a leading automobile company) is a 50:50 venture and will be known as Sony Honda Mobility Inc.
Sales of electric vehicles manufactured by Sony and Honda are set to hit the market by 2025. Both the companies will share the responsibilities to meet the demands. The technology for the vehicle body will be delivered by Honda. The sales as well as the service management network will be managed by Honda. Sony, on the other hand, will use its imaging, sensing and telecommunications networks to power services for a new generation of mobility and mobility.
While we’re not sure, we’re hoping that the joint partnership between Honda and Sony will result in the development of Sony’s Vision-S01 sedan and Vision-S02 crossover. The joint venture of two multinational companies is expected to usher in a new era in the field of electric vehicles across the world.
The era of electric vehicles has already started around the world and the partnership between two major companies (Sony and Honda) is a big step in this line. While it is too early to say, we expect the EVs under this joint venture to be priced affordable. Notably, buyers in South Asian countries like India can accept an EV only if it fits in their budget. Buyers in India can well get EVs under Rs 20 lakhs.
