Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that the accelerated pace of technology and green fuel will bring down the cost of electric automobiles, making them at par with petrol-powered vehicles in the next two years.
Replying to the Lok Sabha on Demands for Grants for 2022-23 from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Gadkari stressed on the need to adopt cost-effective fuel made in India and hoped that this fuel would soon become a reality. Which will reduce the pollution level and improve the environment condition of Delhi.

Urging the MPs to adopt hydrogen technology for transportation, Gadkari asked them to take initiative to make green hydrogen from sewage water in their respective districts. He said that hydrogen will soon be the cheapest fuel option.

The cost of driving the vehicle will be Rs 10
Gadkari said that I can say within maximum 2 years, the price of electric scooter, car, autorickshaw will be same as that of petrol powered scooter, car, autorickshaw. Lithium-ion battery prices are coming down. We are developing this chemistry of zinc-ion, aluminum-ion, sodium-ion battery. If petrol, you are spending Rs 100, then on electric vehicle you will spend Rs 10 (to use).
