Maruti Suzuki India said the capacity of its new factory in Haryana will touch one million units per annum in the next eight years. For this, the company will invest a total of Rs 18,000 crore on this factory. This is Maruti’s third manufacturing plant in the state. This factory is being set up in an area of 800 acres at IMT Kharkhoda in Sonipat district. The company will invest a total of Rs 11,000 crore in its first phase.
Speaking at the event for the official announcement of the land allotment, Maruti Chairman RC Bhargava said, “The production capacity of 10 lakhs at the Sonepat factory will help in meeting the demand of domestic as well as export market.
He said, “Given the market conditions, we will be able to reach the maximum production in the coming eight years. After this, the Sonipat factory will become the largest production factory with a production capacity of 10 lakh vehicles.
At present, Maruti has two factories in Haryana and the parent company Suzuki Motor’s factory in Gujarat. The total production capacity of these factories is 22 lakh units annually. Haryana’s two factories, Gurugram and Manesar, have an annual production capacity of 15.5 lakh units per annum.
