New Delhi. Domestic vehicle sales remained sluggish in February on an annualized basis due to higher costs and supply constraints.
The sales figures of two wheelers and three wheelers along with passenger vehicles in February remained lower as compared to February 2021.
Production of passenger vehicles was affected due to the shortage of chips, which has also affected vehicle sales due to less supply of chips, which has increased the prices.
In February 2022, 1,70,428 passenger vehicles were produced while 1,81,247 vehicles were produced in February 2022.
According to data from SIAM, an association of Indian automakers, the sales figure does not include the sales figures of Tata Motors.
A total of 1,48,541 passenger vehicles were sold in the domestic market in February as compared to 1,55,128 in February 2021.
Utility vehicle sales declined to 78,674 units from 1,14,350 units in February 2021 and van sales to 11,407 units from 11,92 units in February 2021.
