A different and simple style of Union Minister Arjunram Meghwal was seen in Bikaner on Thursday. Taking forward the message of saving petrol and diesel, he traveled from the railway station to his home by e-rickshaw, which has intensified the discussion in administrative and political circles also.
The Union Minister had reached Bikaner Railway Station, from where the traditional VIP convoy or government vehicle was not called for him. Instead he chose to travel in an e-rickshaw and completed the journey of about 8 kilometers in the same.
During this, Arjunram Meghwal was seen sitting in an e-rickshaw with his bodyguard and private secretary (PA), while his supporters accompanied him in another e-rickshaw. However, many supporters and workers had already reached the station with a convoy of cars.
According to sources, the Union Minister had already made it clear that he would not travel with a long convoy and much government fanfare this time. His aim was to convey the message of fuel economy and simplicity, which he also implemented in practice.
This scene of traveling by e-rickshaw became the center of attraction among the local people also. Many people greeted him on the way and saw the initiative as a positive message.
In political and social circles, it is being seen as an initiative to convey the message of limited use of government resources and simplicity among the general public. Supporters say that this step will help in increasing awareness towards environmental protection and fuel saving.
