New Delhi. After the fire in electric vehicles and the death of a person due to battery blast, now the Transport Ministry of the Center is soon going to set the standard for the battery. According to sources, these standards will have to be followed by all battery makers and electric vehicle manufacturers. So far this year, there have been more than 38 incidents of fire in electric vehicles. After this, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari ordered an inquiry. After this order, many companies had also decided to recall their electric scooters. Altogether 7000 vehicles have been taken back by these companies so far.
According to sources, the ministry has decided to formulate the standard after talking to experts. Experts said that the quality of the battery is being compromised. The reason for this is the lack of standards. There is currently no system for quality and standard testing of batteries in India. Battery manufacturers either send these to the Automotive Research Association or the International Center for Automotive Technology for testing. It is also not known later that if the battery sent for testing is found to be correct in the test, then the rest of the batteries are made accordingly.
In such a situation, now only at the time of making the battery, the standard of testing the battery in a random way can be fixed. A new standard for battery testing has arrived in other countries. This includes overcharging, shock tolerance, mechanical drop, short circuit protection, over temperature and thermal shock, etc. The government can make it a standard. Because of this, companies can also increase the price of electric vehicles.
