Retail inflation rose to 6.07 per cent in February due to rise in food prices. This information was given in the official figures released on Monday.
What do the figures say: According to the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the consumer price index (CPI) based retail inflation rate stood at 6.07 per cent in February 2022. It was 5.03 percent in the same month a year ago, while it was 6.01 percent in January 2022.

The data shows that the main reason for the rise in retail inflation in February was the increase in the prices of food products. Prices of food products rose by 5.89 per cent in the previous month, as against 5.43 per cent in January.
The Reserve Bank of India, at the time of its bi-monthly monetary review, mainly takes into account inflation based on consumer prices.
