Passenger vehicle exports from India grew 43 per cent in FY 2021-22, with Maruti Suzuki India leading the way with over 2.3 lakh units. This information has come to the fore in the latest figures of the automobile industry organization SIAM. According to the data, total passenger vehicle (PV) exports stood at 5,77,875 units in 2021-22, as against 4,04,397 units in 2020-21.
42 percent growth in passenger car segment
According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the passenger car segment exported 42 per cent to 3,74,986 units, while the utility vehicle segment saw an increase of 46 per cent to 2,01,036 units. Van exports increased to 1,853 units in FY 2021-22 from 1,648 units in FY 2020-21.
Maruti Suzuki India ahead
In terms of exports, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) was the leader, followed by Hyundai Motor India and Kia India. MSI exported 2,35,670 passenger vehicles during the period under review, which is more than double the previous fiscal.
Maruti hikes vehicle prices by up to 1.9 percent
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has increased the prices of all its models by 0.9 per cent to 1.9 per cent with immediate effect. The company said on Monday that it has taken this decision due to increase in cost. The company said that the prices of all models have been increased by an average of 1.3 percent (showroom price in Delhi).
MSI has increased the prices of its vehicles by about 8.8 percent from January 2021 to March 2022. MSI had told the stock exchanges on April 6 that the cost of its vehicles is being adversely affected due to the rise in raw materials. Carmakers have been regularly raising prices due to the increase in prices of various essential commodities including steel, copper, aluminum and precious metals. Last week, Mahindra & Mahindra had increased the prices of vehicles by up to 2.5 per cent.
