Industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd has climbed two places to 53rd position in Forbes’ latest ‘Global 2000’ list of companies around the world. Forbes released its ranking of the top 2,000 companies for 2022, stating that the list ranks the world’s largest companies, for which they are tested on parameters such as sales, profit, assets and market valuation.
Reliance has topped the list among Indian companies. It is followed by State Bank of India at 105th position, HDFC Bank at 153rd position and ICICI Bank at 204th position.

Other prominent Indian companies in the list include state-owned ONGC (228th rank), HDFC Ltd (268th rank), Indian Oil (357th rank), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (384th rank), Tata Steel (407th rank) and Axis Bank. (431st rank). Forbes said, “Energy and banking sector companies are among the top-ranked Indian companies in the Global 2000 list of listed companies this year.” Reliance’s sales between April 2021 and March 2022 were $104.6 billion and it It has become the first Indian company to have annual revenue of more than $100 billion. Forbes said, “In the Global 2000, out of all listed companies in the world, Reliance climbed two places to 53rd place. It ranks first among Indian companies. Earlier this year, Forbes estimated Ambani’s net worth at $90.7 billion, making him tenth on this year’s billionaires list.

Adani’s company also in the list
SBI is the second largest company in India with a market capitalization of $56.12 billion. It is followed by private sector banks ICICI and HDFC. The new companies to be added to the list include Gautam Adani’s Adani Enterprises Limited, Adani Transmission Limited and Adani Total Gas Limited.

Forbes said, “Adani came into limelight when he became the richest Asian billionaire in history. He overtook Warren Buffett at the beginning of the year to become the fifth richest person in the world.” In this list, Adani Enterprises is at 1,453, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone at 1,568, Adani Green Energy at 1,570, Adani Transmission is at 1,705th position and Adani Total Gas is at 1,746th position. Vedanta Ltd. has made a significant jump in the list, jumping 703 places to be at number 593.
