A major step has been taken for the convenience of crores of employees coming under EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization). EPFO has now made the entire process of updating the details of employees quite easy. Under the new change, employees with Aadhaar-valid universal account number (UAN) can now update their personal details without uploading documents.

Work will be done only on this condition

If the employee’s UAN number is already validated through Aadhaar, then the employees can update their profile like name, date, gender, nationality, mother/mother’s name, matrimonial status, spouse name, joining date etc. without uploading any document. Let us tell you that earlier it was quite complicated to update the details of the profile in the EPF account, which took a long time. Not only this, it had to be channelized through the employee’s company. Now, any update will require the company’s certification only under specific circumstances if your UAN was released before 1 October 2017.

Earlier there was a need to get verification from the company

Earlier, there was a need to get verification from the company to update details to EPF account, which took up to 28 days. Now, 45 percent of requests can be self-exposed by employees and 50% requirement is required only without EPFO’s participation.

EPF account should be linked with Aadhaar and PAN

One more thing to note here is that employees should ensure that their Aadhaar and PAN is link with their EPF account, as it is mandatory for any update or withdrawal. If there are different details in EPF details and your Aadhaar, then there is every possibility of delay. It may take a few weeks to update the EPF account details as it depends entirely on the time taken by the employee’s company and the EPFO in the process.
