Rin soap maker Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has performed tremendously. The company has surpassed all its profit-related estimates for the March 2022 quarter, despite strong inflation. HUL’s standalone net profit grew 8 per cent to Rs 2,327 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2022. With this, the FMCG company had made a profit of Rs 2,143 crore during the same period last year. In a Bloomberg survey, analysts had estimated an average profit of Rs 2,200 crore.
Net sales up 10 percent to Rs 13,190 crore
Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has reported that its operating margin has been 24.6 percent. The company’s net sales grew 10 per cent to Rs 13,190 crore in the January-March 2022 quarter. The company’s board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 19 per share for the financial year 2022. The company had paid an interim dividend of Rs 15 in November. That is, in the financial year 2022, the company has given a total dividend of Rs 34 per share. On Wednesday, the company’s shares closed at Rs 2,140.50, down 0.37 per cent on the National Stock Exchange.

Home care segment grew 24 percent
The company has said that its home care segment has grown at 24 per cent due to strong performance in fabric wash and household care. Both the fabric wash and household care categories grew in strong double digits. The growth in the beauty and personal care segment has been 4 per cent. On the other hand, the food and refreshment segment grew 5 per cent, driven by strong performance from beverages, foods and ice cream. The company says that the operating environment may be challenging in the near future. Inflation could impact volumes and growth would be primarily price driven.
