On the 8th of this month, the feature phone digital payment service UPI123pay was launched. In just 20 days, the number of its users has reached close to 37 thousand. The government has given this information in the Parliament.

According to the information given by the government in Parliament, during this period about 21,833 successful transactions have been done through feature phones. That is, every day more than one thousand successful transactions are being done through the UPI payment service of the feature phone. At the same time, more than 1500 people are using it every day. Experts say that gradually this service will pick up speed and may prove to be a dice-changer for digital payment service.

This service was started by the government to make money transactions without internet. This service has been specially introduced for those using feature phones, which was earlier limited to smartphone users only. At present there are 400 million feature phone users in the country.

To make payments through PI123pay service, the user needs to link his bank account with the feature phone.
After this, the UPI PIN of your debit or credit card will be required.
Once the UPI PIN is set, the user will be able to make payments with a single click.
The feature phone user has to call the IVR number and select the phone based on the service required such as money transfer, LPG gas refill, FASTag recharge, mobile recharge, balance check etc.
To transfer money, the person who wants to transfer has to choose the phone number, enter the amount and UPI PIN.
You will also be able to pay through a missed call to a merchant. Money transactions and payments can be done by making a missed call on the number displayed at the merchant outlet. After this the payment will be done by entering the UPI PIN.
