As per the handbook released by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for 2022-23, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) subjects will no longer be compulsory subjects for admission to undergraduate courses in Architecture. Two other courses in which these three subjects will not be compulsory in class 12th include Fashion Technology and Packaging Technology.
A senior AICTE official said, “We had constituted an expert committee to make recommendations on which courses PCM can be made optional for admissions. Based on the recommendations of the committee, three courses have been selected.
AICTE said, there will be a ban on the opening of new engineering colleges for another 2 years
AICTE has also decided to reserve two additional seats in each course under the ‘PM CARES’ scheme from the upcoming academic session 2022-23 for children orphaned due to COVID-19.
