New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition seeking cancellation of the graduate level National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) held on 12 September 2021. It was said in the petition that the examination was not conducted in a fair and transparent manner. The Supreme Court dismissed the petition saying that the examination cannot be canceled at the cost of lakhs of students.
A bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai said that the petitioner wants the NEET-UG exam to be canceled and the National Testing Agency be directed to conduct a fresh examination. The Supreme Court said that the ground is that the Central Bureau of Investigation has filed three FIRs and said that in place of the students, others took the examination.
CBI registers three FIRs
The bench said, what type of petitions are filed under Article 32? Lakhs of people have given the exams. When people come to you (advocate), you don’t tell them they will be rejected and fine will also be imposed? Now you want to cancel the whole exam? You argue, we will look into it in detail and we will look specifically at you. Petitioner’s advocate Ninad Dogra submitted that CBI has registered three FIRs and the exam paper was leaked on WhatsApp. The court was hearing petitioner Saloni’s plea, requesting to cancel the NEET UG exam.
