COVID-19 in Jharkhand : In view of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in some states of the country, the School Education and Literacy Department of Jharkhand has asked schools to suspend morning prayer meetings, cultural programs and sports related activities. . Officials gave this information on Monday. The Department of School Education and Literacy has issued a new COVID-19 guideline for schools in Jharkhand in the light of rising cases of the pandemic in some states. According to an official release, the new guidelines have asked schools to conduct regular health check-ups in coordination with the nearest health centres. Apart from this, the district administration has been instructed to ensure that the students and teachers are tested for COVID-19 without any pre-determined order (random).
Morning meetings, cultural programs and sports activities will remain suspended in schools, the release said. In a letter to all the Deputy Commissioners, District Education Officers and District Education Superintendents, Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, has asked them to follow the COVID-19 guidelines to prevent the spread of the disease.
Expressing concern, the Secretary said, “The infection rate of COVID-19 is increasing in many states of the country for the last 15 days, which is worrying. At such times, it is imperative to ensure that all necessary initiatives are taken on priority level to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in government schools. As per the guidelines, schools have been asked to sanitize the school premises, classrooms, laboratories, library and others with one percent sodium hypochlorite solution before the start of academic activities and thoroughly sanitize the institution every 15 days. .
It has been said in the guidelines that the rule of mask and social distance will have to be followed. Ensure both doses of COVID vaccine for all academic and non-academic workers. In coordination with the Health Department, arrangements should be ensured for the vaccination of students of 12 and 18 years of age. According to the bulletin issued by the Health Department on 23 April, 21 patients of COVID-19 are under treatment in Jharkhand.
