CUET UG Exam 2022: Common University Entrance Test, UG 2022 Phase 1 exam is starting from today. 8,10,000 candidates will appear in the first phase examination. CUET UG 2022 will conclude on 10th August 2022.
Delhi University (DU) vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh on Thursday said that class 12th marks will be a tie-breaker in the case of students having the same Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores for the same seat during admissions this year, the Indian Express reported. Formula will be considered.
He also said that the university will admit additional students to ensure that maximum seats are filled during the first round of counselling. It is expected that CUET will be conducted twice a year from next year.
If two candidates have the same number, the seat will be decided like this
DU VC said that we have decided that if there is a tie between the CUET scores of two students, then the marks of the best three subjects of class XII will be counted as tiebreaker. If that’s all, we’ll consider the four best themes. If it still remains the same, then the score of the best five subjects will be counted. He added that if the scores still remain the same, then age will become a factor and the older applicant will get preference.
Singh also said that there is no subject which should be counted as compulsorily in the best of three. Language is not mandatory in the best-of-three or best-of-four counts. Any three subjects with the highest score can be counted in it.
The VC said that DU will admit more students than seats in case of withdrawal or dropping out in the middle. In the first round of counseling, we will admit 20 percent additional students in the general and OBC categories and 30 percent in the SC / ST category. We want to ensure that maximum number of seats are filled in the first round itself.
The move is specifically aimed at filling up SC/ST seats, many of which are vacant. Every year a special drive is conducted by DU to fill these seats.
CUET should be organized twice a year
Singh said that he has requested the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of India to conduct CUET twice a year from next year keeping in mind the interest of the students. Singh, however, clarified that this does not mean that DU admissions will be held twice a year. He said that this is only so that students have more chances and we can consider better scores, which will help them.
Singh said that DU will resolve the queries of the students before the CUET results are out so that there is no confusion. Students will have the opportunity to fill their college and course preferences on the DU portal and on the basis of their marks they will be allotted colleges as per their choice.
More than 14 lakhs have applied
CUET UG 2022 is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from July 15 to August 10. Around 14.9 lakh candidates have applied for the exam across the country. At the same time, DU has received more than 6.5 lakh applications. Like last year, 70,000 UG seats will be offered for admission in the university.
