The Indian Army has started providing residential coaching to students from the economically weaker and disadvantaged sections of the North East region to prepare them for All India competitive examinations including engineering and medical entrance.
Defense Spokesperson Lt Col Mohit Vaishnav said on Saturday that the Indian Army, Red Shield Division along with corporate partner State Bank of India Foundation and training partner National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation, to set up a “Red Shield Center for Excellence and Wellness”.
A tripartite agreement has been signed. In which one year fully residential coaching will be provided to the students for various competitive exams including NEET and JEE.
The center will be located in Bishnupur district of Manipur. Lt Col Vaishnav said the scheme is expected to be fully functional for the first batch of 50 students by the first week of July.
Manipur Governor La Ganesan, GOC Red Shield Division Major General Naveen Sachdeva and others were present at the MoU signing ceremony on Saturday.
GOC Red Shield Division said- “Indian Army has been at the forefront of nation building and has been continuously contributing in various fields especially towards youth empowerment.”
