Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh has said that Moral Science will be introduced in schools from the academic year beginning in May. Now stories from Bhagavad Gita and Panchatantra will be part of the syllabus. He said that in which class to teach this subject, a final decision would be taken soon.
Nagesh said that moral education is important for our children. Recently I came across an instance where the students were unfamiliar with the battle scenes in the Mahabharata. It’s our fault, because we haven’t taught them. That is why we have decided to start moral education from this academic year. He said that we will select the best moral stories for the students. It will have stories from Panchatantra and Gita. However, he also said that the government should not impose moral education lessons on private schools.
Meanwhile, former Karnataka minister and Congress leader B Ramnath Rai on Monday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is turning the state into a communal laboratory. Due to this communal hatred has reached its peak. To hide the failure, BJP is doing the politics of vengeance. He said that non-Hindus were not being allowed to trade in temple fairs. Rai said this would lead to racial hatred. He said that the ruling party should stop the politics of vote bank on the basis of religion.
