Beijing. An analysis of moon rocks brought to Earth last year by a Chinese robotic spacecraft has provided new information about volcanic activity on the Moon years ago. A researcher told this on Tuesday. Li Xianhua said the analysis of the samples provided new information about the Moon’s chemical composition and the effects of heat on its evolution.
Lee said the samples indicate that this activity was also happening on the Moon two billion years ago, while earlier estimates said such activity stopped between 2.8 billion and three billion years ago. Li told reporters that volcanic activity on the Moon is very important. They describe the movement inside the moon and display the recycling of energy inside the moon. China brought rock from the Moon to Earth for the first time in December last year. Earlier the US and the former Soviet Union had done this work in the 1970s.
