Nursery Admission 2022: Under the academic session 2022-23, the selected candidates are facing difficulties regarding admission to the seats of Economic Backward Classes (EWS) / Deprived Classes (DG) in private schools. Schools are harassing parents in the name of documents. Somewhere, despite having a ration card, income certificate is being sought from the parents, then some school is sending them back saying that they will give admission in today and tomorrow.
Getting distracted in the name of verification: Manorama, who lives in Lawrence Road area, said that her son’s name came in the draw on April 26, but the private school in Keshavpuram has not yet given admission. When he reached the school on 27th for admission, he was asked to come after two days, but till now the admission has not been given. Manorama says more parents are worried like us. In the name of document verification, the school is wandering here and there.
Schools not accepting ration cards: Sana, who lives in Trilokpuri Block-32, told that her son’s name has appeared in the list for admission in the first class. While filling the online application form, the information related to the ration card was filled. Now the school is asking for income certificate. Due to this the admission could not be done.
What are the instructions from the Directorate of Education
As per the guidelines of the Directorate of Education, schools will not ask for income certificates from BPL, AAY and Food Security Card holders and DG category holders issued by the Food Department. For the convenience of parents, helpline numbers 8800355192 and 9818154069 have been issued. Information can be collected by calling these numbers on working days from 10 am to 5 pm. Parents can also register their complaints on the portal. This time the Directorate has received 1,78,618 applications for admission and draws have been held for about 44000 seats.
Seats remain vacant every year : EEkramul Haque, founder president of Mission Talim, who guides parents for admission to WS seats, said that every year EWS parents have to face this problem. Every time schools refuse admission despite being named in the draw by making some excuse or the other. Because of this thousands of seats remain vacant every year.
Schools cannot deny admission to the selected student: Dr. Satveer Sharma, Principal of Vidya Bal Bhavan Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar Phase-3 said that no school can refuse admission to the selected candidate. The documents which the parents fill in the online application, the school asks the parents only there.
