School Fees Hike: Several parents in Greater Noida (West) of Gautam Budh Nagar district on Sunday staged a demonstration on a ‘bulldozer’ against the alleged ‘arbitrary’ fee hike by private schools. He demanded the Uttar Pradesh government to run a “bulldozer” on the “education mafia”. The parents alleged that the schools were charging hefty sums in the name of transport and forcing them to buy expensive books from private publishers instead of cheaper NCERT books. He performed in Greater Noida (West) now known as Noida Extension. The demonstration took place under the banner of Nefova and NCR Parents Association.
During the protest, the parents took to the road carrying ‘JCB’ (bulldozer). Nefowa President Abhishek Kumar said, “We had done a symbolic protest by polishing our boots two weeks ago regarding the hike in school fees. After that, we had given a memorandum to the District Magistrate in the name of the Chief Minister but till now no positive reply has come. He said. That the parents are already troubled by the inflation and the agitation will be continued till the government withdraws the fee hike. Savita, who was involved in the protest, said, “The Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath has taken action against all kinds of mafia and criminals. Strict action has been taken. Their bulldozer is continuously running on mafia and gangster. We demand from them that bulldozer should be run on education mafia also.
