The Delhi University Teachers Association on Monday protested against the Delhi government to protest against the withholding of salaries of 12 colleges in DU and disaffiliation of the College of Arts with Delhi University.
The pre-proposed Delhi University Teachers’ Association protest against the Delhi government was held outside the Chief Minister’s residence, in which teachers were present. DUTA President Prof. AK Bhagi informed that Delhi Government has decided to dis-affiliate College of Arts to Delhi University, non-admissions in College of Arts for the academic year 2021-22, stop grant of 12 colleges funded 100 percent by Delhi Government, 12 A dharna was organized in protest against the reduction in salary, arrears, medical and other arrears of colleges.
Addressing the dharna, DUTA President Prof AK Bhagi said that the Delhi Government has ended the existence of the College of Arts. The college has been renamed as the Department of Fine Arts of Ambedkar University. Not a single admission has been made in the College of Arts for the academic year 2021-22. In GB Pant College also, admissions were closed in the same way earlier.
The Delhi government wants to destroy the reputation of these prestigious institutions related to Delhi University by making them a department of state universities. DUTA demands to withdraw the College of Arts with immediate effect and start the admission for the session 2021-22 immediately. It is illegal to separate these institutions from the university without taking NOC from the EC of Delhi University.
Prof VS Negi and Prof Seema Das of DU Executive Council also addressed the dharna. Prof VS Negi said that the present DUTA will never allow Delhi government’s intention to break Delhi University. The proposal of the Delhi government regarding the College of Arts was rejected both the times in the EC meeting. After the dharna, the delegation led by DUTA President Prof A K Bhagi submitted its demand letter at the residence of Chief Minister Kejriwal.
