An educational institution in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district has announced that they will provide free education to the children of Kashmiri Pandits who were displaced from their homeland and settled elsewhere in the country.
Ambika Mahavidyalaya in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district is the institution which has brought this opportunity for the children of Kashmiri Pandits.
Announcing this at a press conference in Puttur on Saturday, its convener Subramania Nattoj said that he was impressed by the plight of Kashmiri Pandits after watching the film ‘The Kashmir Files’. Nattoj visited Jammu and after studying their condition decided to provide free education to the children of all displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
He plans to provide free education to Kashmiri students from class VI to graduation. He has also announced free hostel facility for them. The cost of education of a student in the institute would be around Rs 80,000 and the facilities provided would cost Rs 50,000 in a year. All these will be provided free of cost to the children of Kashmiri Pandits. Nattoj said that four children of Kashmiri Pandits have already been admitted to the institution.
