There are many places in your budget which are called Switzerland of India. One of these is Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. The first Prime Minister of the country, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru had reached Sonbhadra in 1954. Then he was so fascinated by the natural texture and beauty of Sonbhadra that he had said that this place would become the Switzerland of India. And since then Sonbhadra came to be called mini Switzerland.

The natural shade of this natural waterfall situated on the Belan river is mesmerizing. It is very thrilling to see the water of the river falling in about 50 feet depth while hitting the rocks. A large number of tourists are reaching here during these rainy days. Mukkha Falls is a part of Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the south-west direction, about 12 km from the Ghoraval tehsil headquarters. Tourists get mesmerized by the natural scenery here.
A large number of tourists come here not only from the local but also from many nearby districts and Madhya Pradesh to see this waterfall associated with the Stone Age Belan River. Enjoy Bati-Chokha and other types of dishes. Fairs are organized here on many occasions including Makar Sankranti, Pareva and huge crowds gather. On the occasion of Kartik Purnima, devotees take a bath in the river Belan and offer darshan to the ancient temple of Mata Bhagwati located here.
A large number of crocodiles live in the natural pool under the waterfall. Wild tubers, herbs, makoy, bahera, jharberry etc. are found in abundance in Mukkha Falls and the surrounding forests. Arjuna trees with valuable medicinal properties are found in abundance around the waterfall. To the south of Mukkha Falls, the ruined ruins of the ancient Shikargah still exist.
Rare rock paintings made by humans of ancient times on rocks in caves near Mukkha Falls are invaluable heritage of human civilization. The period of these rock paintings is believed to be more than five thousand years. These paintings include the scene of the procession, doli with horns, temple, money symbol, hunting scene, cow, deer, bull, etc.
An astonishing feature of these rock paintings is that they become brighter in the months of lagna (marriage) than at other times and are clearly visible. These rock paintings are known to the local people as “Sita-Kohbar”. According to archaeologists, the Belan River is one of the few places in the Indian subcontinent, where the earliest evidence of human civilization has been found.
