Instructions to register FIR against Surya and Jyothika
A Metropolitan Magistrate of Saidapet in Tamil Nadu has ordered the police to register an FIR against actor Suriya and his wife Jyothika, producer of the film Jai Bheem, for allegedly portraying the Vanniyar community in a vulgar manner. On a petition filed by advocate K Santosh Kumar, founder and founder of Ruthra Vanniyar Sena, the court directed the Velachery police to register an FIR within five days, stating that the matter disclosed a cognizable offense based on the complaint and affidavit.
The court has fixed the matter for next hearing on May 20 and also directed the police inspector to submit a copy of the FIR before the court on that day. The film’s lead actor Suriya produced the film with his wife Jyothika under the banner of 2D Entertainment. The film ‘Jai Bheem’ directed by Gyanvel was released on the OTT platform on November 8 last year. Petitioner Santosh, in his complaint, alleged that the makers of the film have hurt the beliefs and sentiments of the Vanniyar community by portraying them in a vulgar manner.
Santosh further alleged that the scenes in the film depicted the Vanniyar community, the late leader Guru, as a wrongdoer to the tribal community and it was speculated that the Vanniyar community was prone to commit illegal acts. He alleged that the late Vanniyar community leader Guru has been misrepresented for the tribal community in the scenes in the film. They demanded registration of complaint under various sections.

‘KGF Chapter 2’ becomes second highest grossing film in English
