Hyderabad, Aug 17 (IANS) | Indian OTT streaming platforms are attracting diverse content from all parts of the country, hence it is being considered as the preferred choice for release these days. Telugu actor Adivi Sesha, who is yet to make his digital debut, says he would like to be a part of an OTT story only when something really good happens.
In an interview with IANS, Shesh, who is also an acclaimed writer, talks about his views on the world of OTT and the release plans of his much-awaited film ‘Major’. Shesh told IANS, “I haven’t planned anything but when you hear something good, you want to do it. So, at the end of the day all of us storytellers are sitting around the fire. If I’m around Sitting people like the story so it’s beautiful. As an actor, if I find something that’s really cool and beautiful, why not? In the end, it has to be really good.”
Shesh feels that the whole perception about what should and should not release on digital platforms has changed over the years. He says, “When OTT came 3-4 years back, people thought it is for small budget films and theaters are for big budget films. I think when you see someone on OTT platform. ‘Crown’ or other beautiful series, it has changed. I wondered what the sensibility of the story is. There is a way of storytelling for the big screen and there is a way of storytelling for the streaming service.”
The 36-year-old “Gudachari” star recently started the last shoot schedule of his much-awaited biographical drama “Major”. The film, based on the life of 26/11 martyr Sandeep Unnikrishnan, was scheduled to release in July but got delayed due to the second Covid-19 wave. Also the writer of the film, Shesh feels that the film directed by Shashi Kiran Tikka is written and made for a theatrical experience. He says, “‘Major’ is naturally made for the theatrical box office and if I wanted to design it for a streaming service, I would have written it very differently. It would have been a two-and-a-half-hour film to write it. Instead of being written in an episodic structure, the intent of the writer and the director matters a lot.” Apart from this, Sesha will also be seen in ‘Hit 2’ and ‘Gudachari 2’.
