Bollywood’s ‘Shahenshah’ Amitabh Bachchan has been a hero not only in reel life but also in real life. Amitabh is called the friend of friends and he has always helped his loved ones. Amitabh also shared a good bond with Sholay’s Gabbar i.e. Amjad Khan and once Bachchan saved his life too. Amjad Khan’s wife Shaila Khan recently told about an accident in an interview when Amitabh came out like a messiah for her.
Shaila told the story
Actually recently Shaila gave an interview to Pinkvilla. In this interview, Shaila told that before the film ‘The Great Gambler’ she had an accident in Sawantwadi near Goa. Shaila was pregnant at the time of the accident and she had severe injuries on her face and broken bones. At the same time, her husband Amjad’s 13 ribs and femur bone (thigh bone) were broken. The steering wheel pierced his chest and injured his lungs… due to which he was finding it difficult to breathe and he was also suffering from internal bleeding.
Amitabh had signed
Shaila further told that after the incident all were admitted to Sawantwadi Hospital. At the same time, a large crowd had gathered outside the hospital, who were shouting – ‘Bring out Gabbar Singh’, so the doctors referred us to Panjim (Goa). Amjad’s condition was so bad that no one knew whether he would survive or not, but even at that time Amitabh Bachchan ji signed the hospital papers allowing doctors to do tracheostomy.
Spent three months in Mumbai hospital
Explain that tracheostomy is a procedure where artificial breath is given to the patient through tracheostomy in case of breathlessness. Shaila further told that after the operation we soon took a flight to Mumbai and we stayed in Nanavati Hospital for three months. Significantly, Amitabh and Amjad won the hearts of the audience in many films. However, due to an accident, his character was later played by actor Utpal Dutt in The Great Gambler.
