Busan International Film Festival to be held from October 6 to October 15
Mumbai, (IANS)| Directed by National Award winning actress and filmmaker Aparna Sen, “The Rapist” is all set to have its world premiere at the 26th edition of Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Talking about the film, Aparna said, “Through this film we tried to find out the reasons why so many rapists are created in our society and it is because of the inequalities in our social system that these criminals are born. I happen to be attracted to the psychology of the three protagonists in this story.”
“Meticulously created masks by separating layers to reach reality is a fascinating process. What’s also fascinating is that two Indias, one with its age-old beliefs, live in urban slums and the other an educated urban India with its ‘ Stays with ‘progressive’ value systems.” The film stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Arjun Rampal in lead roles.
‘The Rapist’ narrates the journey of three protagonists and how their lives are twisted due to a horrific incident. The film looks beyond the obvious crime, to explore not only how it affects crime survivors and perpetrators, but also how one’s idealistic views change when the truth gets closer to home. Huh. The film is produced by Applause Entertainment. Widely acknowledged as the largest film festival in Asia. Busan International Film Festival To be held from 6th October to 15th October.
