Mumbai. Oscar and Grammy winning composer A.R. Rehman created a stir in Mumbai with his performance with playback singer Kailash Kher. Rehman attended the trailer launch of the film at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Thursday.
He was also accompanied by director Imtiaz Ali, global superstar Diljit Dosanjh and actress Parineeti Chopra. Rehman and Imtiaz are working together through this film after nine years. Earlier they had worked together in the cult-classic ‘Tamasha’.
After the team interacted with the media, Rehman came on stage with Kailash and singer Yashika Sikka and performed the song ‘Bol Mohabbat Seene La, Rabba Rabba Seene La’. Rehman spoke to the media along with Imtiaz, Parineeti and Diljit, later Kailash and Yashika also joined him on stage to perform.
The film gives a rustic glimpse of the interiors of Punjab. The film is based on Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, about whom Imtiaz said that he was a man of the people and used to talk to people. Chamkila is considered one of the best ever live stage artistes of Punjab and is extremely popular among the rural audiences. Chamkila is generally considered one of the greatest and most influential Punjabi artists. ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ is set to release on Netflix on April 12.
