Mumbai,(IANS)| In a major relief, the Bombay High Court on Thursday granted bail to Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha. He was arrested at a cruise ship rave party raided by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Giving conditional bail to the three, Justice N. Sambre passed the operating order and the detailed order is expected on Friday.
Accordingly, the trio of Khan, Merchant and Dhamecha will not leave the jails till the court’s order is received, a defense lawyer said.In view of unprecedented public interest, after hearing for more than 9 hours in a packed hall of the High Court, the bail decision came at 3 pm.Former Attorney General of India, Vijay Mukul Rohatgi said, “The High Court has granted bail to Aryan, Arbaaz and Munmun.”Aryan’s advocate-on-record, Satish Maneshinde, looked up and remarked succinctly: ‘God is great’.
Rohatgi declined further comments till a detailed bail order was received. The order will be sent to Arthur Road Central Jail, only then will they be able to escape from their barred enclosures.Nationalist Congress Party minister Nawab Malik welcomed the bail order and said he should have been granted bail on the very first day of his arrest.“NCB has fabricated a completely false case…they kept changing their stand to deny bail to the accused. It is a ‘fazirwada’ which will not survive the scrutiny of the courts,” Malik said. The NCP leader, who is doing serial exposure on NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, said, “It is ironic that the officer who has kept these people in jail for so many days is not afraid to go to jail and approach the courts for relief. Is.”
The accused trio along with the other five were detained on October 2, after the NCB raided the alleged rave party on board the Cordelia cruise ship. The next day (October 3) they were formally arrested and have been away from their respective homes for the past 27 days. The matter has caught the attention of the entire country.Later during investigation, the NCB arrested 12 more people, some of whom got bail from the special NDPS court.
