Mumbai, December 13 (IANS)| Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who fell in love with a trans-woman in “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui”, says he never chose a script considering the film’s success at the box office. He says, “Since my debut in ‘Vicky Donor’, I have chosen films that have been deemed unconventional or taboo from the social point of view. I think such films are necessary for India. ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ is mine. There is one such film in the filmography and I am very proud of it.”
She carried on her experience of working with the director of ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ Abhishek Kapoor. I am fortunate to have found a creative partner in Abhishek Kapoor, who also believed that there was a need to focus on issues affecting the transgender community in India. It was our attempt to make this conversation relevant and mainstream and I hope the film does the same in the days to come.
Ayushmann further says that while choosing any script, he never hesitates to take any risk and focuses only on the story.Ayushmann says he chooses to stir up a nationwide debate through his films any day, instead of thinking about how much his film will do at the box-office.
