Today is the birth anniversary of television’s most famous comedian Jaspal Bhatti. If Jaspal was alive today, he would have been celebrating his 67th birthday, but alas, in October 2012, Jaspal Bhatti died in a road accident. He is also known as ‘King of Comedy’ and ‘King of Satyr’. Jaspal had an electrical engineer degree from Punjab Engineering College. Jaspal Bhatti used to laugh and take a dig at politics, system and society, and his performance was very much liked by the audience.
During his college days, Jaipal became famous for his street plays, Nonsense Club. Hundreds of people were associated with this club. He used to work as a cartoonist in the Tribune newspaper in Chandigarh. Being a cartoonist, he got a chance to reach out to the people by satirizing the problems and system related to the common man. One of the biggest reasons for his popularity was that he used to raise the everyday issues of the middle class in an interesting way.
Famous for Flop Show and Ulta Pulta
In the 80s and 90s, Bhatti caught everyone’s attention with the serial flop shows of Doordarshan and Ulta Pulta. Jaspal Bhatti directed the show as well as acted in it. The special thing was that it was based on social issues and people liked it a lot. Jaspal Bhatti once protested on the road wearing a garland of vegetables around his neck as inflation rose and pulled his car with an ox when the price of petrol and diesel increased.

Comedian Jaspal Bhatti was killed in a road accident. The accident took place at Shahkot near Jalandhar where his car collided with a trolley. Jaspal was accompanied by his son in the car at the time of the accident. In 2013, he was posthumously awarded the Padma Bhushan.
After flagging on TV, Jaspal Bhatti also tried his hand in the film world. He has appeared in the films ‘Fanaa’, ‘Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye’, ‘Kuch Na Kaho’, ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche’, ‘Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai’, ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’, ‘Iqbal’, ‘Cartridge’. Work done.
