At the 70th National Film Awards ceremony, well-known Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the biggest honor of the cinema world, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, while Kannada film superstar Rishabh Shetty was honored with the Best Actor Award. President Draupadi Murmu honored the best Indian films in different languages at the National Film Awards ceremony. These awards are given to films certified by the Censor Board from January 1 to December 31, 2022.
‘Earlier I had a lot of complaints against God’
Mithun Chakraborty was a part of the ceremony wearing a plaster in his hand. After showing memorable glimpses of his film journey, he was called on the stage to felicitate him. With the help of his assistant, Mithun reached the stage and the President welcomed him with a shawl and then honored him with a commendation. Standing ovation was given at Vigyan Bhawan for Mithun Chakraborty’s contribution to films. After receiving the honour, an emotional Mithun said, “With the blessings of all of you, I have once again reached this stage. I have not achieved anything easily, I have struggled a lot. After receiving this award today, I have stopped complaining. Thank God, he has given me everything back with interest.” He said that there are many talented people in our country, but they do not have money. I want to tell them that even if you don’t have money, don’t lose hope. Keep dreaming. Sleep, but don’t let your dreams sleep.
Rishabh Shetty received the Best Actor Award
Kannada film superstar Rishabh Shetty has won the Best Actor award. He has received this award for his film ‘Kantara’. Malayalam language film ‘Aattam’ won the Best Feature Film award, while the Best Actress honor was shared by Nithya Menen and Mansi Parekh. Nithya Menen and Mansi Parekh won this award for Kutch Express in Tiruchitrabalam. The Best Director award was given to Sooraj Barjatya for the film ‘Unchai’. Neena Gupta was given the Best Supporting Actress award for the film ‘Unchai’. Best Supporting Actor award was given to Pawan Malhotra for the film ‘Fauja’.

The Best Entertaining Feature film Kantara was chosen, while the Special Mention Award was given to Manoj Bajpayee for the film Gulmohar. The Best Child Artist award was given to Sripath for the Malayalam film Mallikapuram. Gulmohar received the award for Best Feature Film (Hindi), Karthikeya 2 for Best Feature Film (Telugu) and Ponniyan Selvan Part 1 received the award for Best Feature Film (Tamil). Vishal Bhardwaj was awarded the Best Music Director award for the non-feature film ‘Fursat’. Padmashree awardee Bombay Jayashree won the Best Playback Singer award for the song ‘Chayyum Veyil’ from ‘Saudi Vellaka CC’. Veteran cinematographer Ravi Varman received the Best Cinematography award for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. AR Rahman was given the Best Music Director award for Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Ponniyan Selvan-Part 1’ and Pritam was given the Best Music Director award for ‘Brahmastra-Part 1’.
Aaina Best Non Feature Film
Kutch Express received the award for Best Feature Film (promoting national, social and environmental values), Brahmastra for Best Film (Animation, Visual Effects Gaming and Comic), Deepik Dua received the award for Best Film Critic. Whereas Anirudh Bhattacharya was given the award for the Best Book on Cinema for his book ‘Kishore Kumar – The Ultimate Biography’. ‘Aaina’ was awarded for the best non-feature film.
