Los Angeles, Aug 23 (IANS)| Hollywood star Daniel Craig says he is too old to play the super spy ‘James Bond’ as he is required to perform stunts in Bond films. The actor has made his fifth and final appearance as 007 in ‘No Time to Die’, whose release was postponed several times during the COVID pandemic, and is now the longest-serving Bond actor. Has surpassed the record held by the late Sir Roger Moore.
Craig felt he was too old for the role after battling injuries while playing the athletic detective. He lost two teeth on his first outing as Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale, had a finger amputated while filming 2008’s Quantum of Solace, and his ankle in No Time to Die. I was injured. “I still do as many stunts as I can because I enjoy the physicality of it. I hurt myself in every movie,” Craig told British magazine Candice.
The actor has re-confirmed that ‘No Time to Die’ will be his last 007 film. He said that “this is absolutely the last. Now is the time to go for someone else. He admitted that he has mixed feelings about handing over his license to kill.” Craig, who is currently filming the sequel to his hit film ‘Knives Out’, said that the role of James Bond has given me so many wonderful things as an actor that I am extremely grateful to him and will always be.
“If I had any ambition as an actor, it was to work with the best people, and that’s what I’m doing.” Craig said, “Look, I’ve been lucky to get one of the best roles in film history.
