After the third wave of Corona, when films started releasing in theaters once again on Diwali in November 2021, there was a wave of happiness in the audience. Since many big films were stuck for release due to the complete ban, after the opening of theaters on Diwali, all the producers-directors started preparing for the release of their respective films. Many films were released along with Diwali and the audience attendance in the theaters was very good.
Film actor Akshay Kumar had also said during one of his interviews that I want everyone’s films to be hit, not only mine, so that more money comes in the film industry. Akshay Kumar’s words also appeared to be true somewhere, because many films released after Purnabandi earned such money at the box office, which everyone was surprised to see. Be it the recently released film RRR or the dubbed film Pushpa or the film Kashmir Files made on Kashmiri Pandits.
In 2022, there were many such films, which earned more in the box office than expected. Along with this, the box office collection of films this time was something that reminded of one-day cricket match. No one knows what will happen in the last over. In the same way, the box office earnings of films released in 2022 saw such ups and downs which no one expected. In this, while Allu Arjun starrer Dubbed film Pushpa made a big hit at the box office, Kashmir Files earned more than 200 crores at the box office.
Similarly, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi also garnered success at the box office. On the other hand, Badhaai Do based on homosexuality and Amitabh Bachchan’s film Jhund collected an average amount at the box office and collected more than its cost.
Many films failed miserably at the box office. These include Belbatam, Bunty Babli-2, Vale and Bahubali fame Prabhas’s recent release film Radheshyam. Similarly, Kapil Dev and Ranveer Singh starrer 83 on World Cup, which was highly expected by the audience and producers, could not be successful at the box office.
Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan and Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi, which released on Diwali, did a business of Rs 294 crores worldwide. At the same time, the collection of Bunty Babli 2 starring Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan stood at 22.01 crores. The film’s earnings may not have been much, but this film has earned more than its cost.
Similarly, the film Jhund starring Amitabh Bachchan also earned more than its cost. Jhund’s box office collection stood at Rs 30 crore.
Badhaai Do’s two-week box office collection stood at 15.50 and 28 crores worldwide. Radhey Shyam, starring Prabhas, earned Rs 15.50 crore in two weeks and Rs 154 crore worldwide.
